Life’s Too Short for Girth Control

My initial exposure to Girth Control was about a month ago when they reached out to say hello and tell me that they had some new singles streaming.  I do my best to check out the music of any band that reaches out to me directly.  I admire the initiative and the hard work they put in to get themselves and their music out there.

The first single I listened to was ‘Wrecked on Triple Sec’ and right away I knew that their new album was going to be super fun and relatable to those of us who may be growing in age but staying young at heart (that’s me)!  Go ahead and check the video for this one out first, I dare you. Tell me you are not instantly transformed into party mode and dancing along.

Listening to the full 25 track album over the past few days, I know that my first impression was spot on, THESE GUYS BRING THE PARTY! Don’t get it twisted, though.  They are a lot of fun, but that’s not all there is to them.  They play great music and some of the lyrics might just trigger some emotions and feelings, along with those laughs. This album was full of surprises for me.

Highlights:

  • (I Think) I F****d Around – This one is probably the one that resonates with me the most.  I think I also “f****d around too much back then, but if I had a chance, I’d probably do it all again”.  A song of good times and no regrets!
  • Basement Song (An Ode to the Shred Shack) – wow, this one hit hard. Real Hard. A little more mellow, a lot more thought-provoking. We all have that “Shred Shack” we miss, whether it’s a basement or not. For some of us it’s physical place, for others, it may be a state of mind. Whatever it is, it’s not forever.

Check out the album. Maybe enjoy it with some beers or old friends. Go ahead, grab the beer bong, too!

Make sure you also give Girth Control a follow on IG, FB, and Youtube. Don’t miss their updates, videos, and undoubtedly more show announcements!
